A network of digital advocates lashed back at Motorcycle taxi company Move It for claiming that its operation is independent from its mother company.
Digital Pinoys national campaigner said that it is unbelievable that a company who owns another will let it operate on its own.
“Why would anyone purchase a company and relinquish control over it? The idea is so absurd. It is really hard to believe anyone will do that.”
Gustilo reacted to Move It’s statement published in various news sites that they are still the third player in the MC taxi pilot study and not Grab. Grab announced in August that they have acquired Move It. The deal sparked the opposition against Grab’s backdoor entry of the pilot study.
“They can play on loop over and over that Move It is independent from Grab. But the truth is far from it. In fact, Move
It’s general manager is from Grab. So how can they claim independence?”
In it’s General Information Sheet filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Grab Ph holdings Inc., owns 99.8% of We Load Transcargo, the company name of Move It.
Gustilo also urged the House of Representatives and the Senate to investigate the deal between Grab and Move It. In a dialogue held in Manila last Wednesday, Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua said that he will initiate an investigation regarding the deal and Grab’s treatment of its delivery riders.
“We urge our honorable Representatives and Senators to look into the deal between Grab and Move It. We have reason to believe that the deal should not be allowed as it serves as a backdoor for Grab to participate in the pilot study and it does not benefit the public.”###
