A network of digital advocates welcomed today the launching of the blockchain research and education partnership between Ateneo De Manila University and global blockchain leader nChain.
Digital Pinoys national campaigner Ronald Gustilo said that the partnership between ADMU and nChain will usher the emergence of blockchain technology as a reliable tool for government offices and private enterprises.
“With nChain and ADMU’s partnership, Filipinos will now have the chance to see the potential of blockchain technology and how it will help for daily practical use. Many Filipinos are still unaware of blockchain technology and this is a very good opportunity for the people to learn all about it.”
The partnership is set to provide an additional blockchain leadership unit to the University’s course offering in the second semester of 2023. In addition, nChain will support PhD students with access to patented IP and several grants to further blockchain research in the Philippines.
Recently, the local government of Bataan inked a Memorandum of Understanding with nChain with the objective of laying down the framework for the establishment of a digital platform for the province in order to streamline current systems and procedures of government services.
nChain also worked with the Government of Tuvalu to archive historical records to help make historical documents accessible to their citizens.
“Blockchain is being used already to streamline government processes and services to the public. This is an innovation that other local government units and national government agencies can utilize in compliance with the Ease of Doing Business Act and for the practical reason of providing fast and reliable government service to the public.”###
